The federal government on Thursday has proposed three names for the slot of caretaker prime minister.

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has proposed the names of three potential candidates from the PPP side in response to a letter earlier written by the leader of the opposition. These three include Dr Ishrat Husain, Justice (Retired) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso and Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and its like-minded opposition groups had earlier nominated Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid, Justice (retd) Shakirullah Jan and Rasool Bux Paleejo for the office.

If no consensus emerged on the name of one candidate for the caretaker premiership, then the matter would be referred to the parliamentary committee.

  1. People, both in the government and those outside have little understanding of the consultation process.

  2. Dr Hafeez Shaikh is not fit for PM, he is a culprit who made bad decisions regarding economy. he is night mare for Pakistanis.

  3. The solution of problems faced by Pakistan is in Rule of Islam. I wonder why muslims left their Caliphism and adopted the christian/ jewish government styles. Tell me what is the name of Pakistan i.e. Islamic Republic of Pakistan, so strange, is republicanism allowed in Islam? Where? Show me? It should change the name to Islamic Atheist Pakistan. With this governance style its more suitable!
