Bahrain deports 450 Pakistanis after alleged torture

Around 450 Pakistanis were deported from Bahrain on Thursday after allegedly being kept hostage for 19 months.

According to a report by a private television channel, the young deportees were promised a job in the Bahrain’s army with starting salary of Rs 100,000.

The army, however, took the young men hostage and tortured them, the report quoted a deportee as saying.

The men were not given food and access to toilets for five days and were not allowed to call their families and friends back home.

Around 100 more Pakistanis are expected to be deported today (Friday).
