Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Monday that the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project was a great development to meet the energy requirements of the country.
Talking to Pakistan Television (PTV), Kaira said that the mega project was not against any other country and it would only benefit Pakistan.
“The United States should have taken up its reservations regarding the project, if any, with Pakistan officially,” he added.
He said that the two countries were showing great interest in the mega project as such collaborations were important for the region.
The minister said Pakistan was a responsible country and hoped that no sanctions would be imposed on it.Replying to a question regarding the Turkmanistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) project, Kaira said that this project was too difficult as it was required peace in Afghanistan.
He said regional stability would not be possible without peace in Afghanistan.
Kaira said that Pakistan was the worst victim of terrorism and it had rendered a lot of sacrifices in the war against terror.
He further added that the PPP leadership had always taken decisions in the larger interest of the country.
