Shahid Afridi eighth man to play 350 One Dayers

Shahid Afridi became the third Pakistan after Inzamam-ul-Haq and Wasim Akram and eighth player overall to appear in 350 or more one day international matches.The first match of the five-match series between
Pakistan and South Africa at Chevrolet Park, Bloemfontein on Sunday (March 10) was 350th match in one day international cricket for this all rounder.
Shahid Afridi who made his international debut against Kenya on October 2,1996 took 16 years and 160 days to achieve this feat. The hard hitting right hand batsman and leg break googly bowler, played 57 one day international matches at home while he appeared in 293 one day internationals outside Pakistan.
Sachin Tendulkar (India-463 matches), Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka- 445 matches), Mahela Jayawardene (Sri Lanka-391 matches), Inzamam-ul-Haq (Pakistan-378 matches), Ricky Ponting (Australia- 375 matches), Wasim Akram (Pakistan-356 matches) and Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka-350 matches) were the other players to appear in 350 or more one day international matches before Shahid Afridi who also led Pakistan in 34 matches.
** Colin Ingram and Abraham de Villiers set up a new record for the third wicket position for South Africa against Pakistan at home by adding 120 runs. It was South Africa’s third best third wicket stand against Pakistan after 137-run stand between Abraham de Villiers and Herschelle Gibbs at Lahore on October 18,2007 and 121-run partnership between Abraham de Villiers and Jacques Kallis at Dubai on November 8,2010.
** Colin Ingram’s unbeaten 105 in 137 minutes off 104 balls with 10 fours was his second hundred in six innings of as many matches against Pakistan. His first hundred against Pakistan was 100 in 143 minutes off 119 balls with 10 fours and a six at Abu Dhabi on October 31,2010. It was Colin Ingram’s third hundred in 17 innings of 19 one day internationals.
