Promised funds for Abbas Town victims released

The Sindh government has released the promised funds for the rehabilitation of victims of the Abbas town blasts, stated Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah.
They were chairing a high-level meeting regarding rehabilitation of the Abbas town victims held at the Governor House on Monday. Sindh Local Government Minister Aga Siraj Durrani, Chief Secretary Raja Mohammad Abbas and Karachi Commissioner Hashim Raza Zaidi were among the participants of the meeting.
It was informed that more than 80 injured of the blasts had been provided with rupees one million each, however the documents of 29 out of 56 dead were verified and the payment of Rs 1.5 million each would be made in the next fifteen days. Meanwhile, the verification of documents of other deceased was in process.
It was also informed that at least Rs 130 million had been earmarked for reconstruction and rehabilitation of the affected flats and the demolition work had already been started in this regards.
It was further informed that all this work would be carried out under the direct supervision of the commissioner.
The governor and the CM said that the rent and ration payment would be made by the government until the rehabilitation of the affected families was completed.
