JI presents three-point agenda for country’s progress

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hasan has presented a three-point agenda to ensure progress and sovereignty of the country.
He announced the agenda while addressing a press conference at Idara-e-Noor Haq here on Monday.
JI Karachi chief Muhammad Hussain Mahenti, JI deputy chief Raja Arif Sultan, Director Public Relations Sarfaraz Ahmed, Information Secretary Zahid Askari and others were also present on the occasion.
Addressing a press conference, the JI chief said that every political and religious party of the country should unite on the three-point agenda including issues such as the eradication of terrorism, evolution in economy and resolution of Kashmir issue.
Munawar said the menace of terrorism was increasing with each passing day in the countrys, adding that the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KPK), Balochistan and Karachi were in the grip of terrorism.
The JI chief further said that the economy of the country was at the verge of collapse while former Finance Minister Dr Hafeez Shaikh was planning to release the last installment by IMF. “JI considers to evolve a consensus to resolve the economic crises of the country,” Munawar added.
He also said that Kashmir issue should be resolved per the desire of Kashmiri people.
On the occasion, the Munawar said the government should evolve independent foreign policy in which national agenda should remain on the top of the priority list.
While giving his observation on the prevailing situation in Bangladesh, Munawar said the conviction of JI leaders in Bangladesh was an unjustified act and the media should play its due role to highlight the atrocities being carried out against JI leaders in Bangladesh.
Furthermore, the JI chief said that US intervention on economic, geographical and against Pakistan Army should be stopped immediately, as the US wanted to seize the resources of Pakistan.
“Our present rulers are only obeying US commands while the people can bring in the change and get independence from US slavery by the power of their votes”, Munawar added.
Replying to a question, Hasan said seat adjustment with JUI-F in KPK and PML-N and PTI in Punjab would be done in general elections.
Moreover, the JI chief regretted that the Election Commission had not yet implemented the SC verdict over voters’ verification in its true spirit.
Meanwhile, prominent scholars and leaders of Christian community including Bishop Nazeer Alam of United Church of Pakistan, Bishop Khadim Bhutto of Gospel Vision Church of Pakistan, Dr Samuel George, Chairman Philadelphia Castle Church, Pastor Michael Victor, Vice Chairman Church of Pakistan, Pastor Rayyaz Buta, pastor Pervez Gill, Pastor Edward Irfan, Pastor Mansi Badr, Pastor Irfan Dean, Pastor Afzal, Pastor Shamoon Joseph and others were also present on the occasion.
They expressed gratitude to the JI leaders for expressing solidarity with the Christian community over the Badami Bagh incident in Lahore.
Bishop Nazeer Alam strongly condemned the Badami Bagh incident and termed it a conspiracy of anti-social elements.
Churches of Pakistan Vice Chairman Enamuel Victor held the government of Punjab and security agencies responsible for the unfortunate incident.
Pastor George demanded of the government to award exemplary punishment to those culprits who were involved in the mentioned incident.
Later, JI Karachi chief Muhammad Hussain assured full party support to the Christian community and said that the JI leadership stood shoulder to shoulder with Christian community in these desperate times. Leaders of JI Minority Wing were also present on the occasion.
