The Pink Ribbon Campaign launched on Sunday the country’s first Breast Cancer Mobile Mammogram Clinic to help women get regular check-ups in locations where there is no easy access to hospitals.
The Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Oncology (INMOL) is collaborating with the Pink Ribbon Campaign in the initiative.
Chief Executive Officer of the Pink Ribbon Campaign
Omar Aftab said, “Since there is a lack of medical facilities and doctors in the rural areas, where people have to walk many miles to reach a hospital, it is extremely difficult for woman to get a mammography regularly”.
“The objective of the mobile mammogram clinic is to reach out to the poorest women and provide them with free screening services at their doorsteps to save thousands of precious lives with early diagnosis,” he added.
Aftab said this Breast Cancer Mobile Mammogram Clinic was housed in an air conditioned bus, equipped with a state of the art mammogram machine, a UPS, a generator and various other accessories.
“The women, who were diagnosed with breast cancer during a screening conducted at the mobile bus, were then facilitated by the Pink Ribbon for treatment”, he added.
