A man was killed and several others were arrested in various violent incidents in different localities of the city here on Sunday.
At least 15 suspects were nabbed during targeted operation by the law enforcement agencies in different areas of the metropolis.
According to details, unidentified miscreants shot a man dead near Gate-2 of Mehmoodabad. The deceased has been identified as rickshaw driver Mushtaq Shah.
Police sources said two bodies were recovered from Sakkan Nadi area of Gaddap Town. “Both were tortured before they were killed.”
The deceased were identified as Babu Iftikhar Baloch and Maqbool Baloch hailing from Balochistan and they were kidnapped from Raees Goth of Baldia Town.
Meanwhile, firing incidents continued in the city during which more than 10 persons were reported injured. The wounded persons were shifted to various hospitals of concerned areas.
The Rangers and other security agencies conducted overnight operation in North Karachi and Landhi’s Sherpao Colony. In different blocs of North Karachi’s Sector-5C, at least 11 suspected people were rounded up. The Rangers launched a simultaneous targeted crackdown against the miscreants in Sherpao Colony and apprehended four saboteurs from the area. Arms and explosives were also recovered from the possession of detainees.
The arrested people were shifted to some undisclosed location for interrogations.
The Rangers’ spokesman said they had also held hundreds of suspects and recovered arms from their possession in a targeted operation in different localities of the city including Pakhtoonabad area of Mangopir.
“Some 13 rifles and 50 pistols were recovered during the operation,” the spokesman said.
Rescue sources said that eight people including four women and three children were injured in an explosion caused by gas leakage in Sherpao colony, Landhi. The injured were rushed to the civil hospital.
