SU syndicate okays 300 acres for employees housing society

The syndicate of the University of Sindh (SU), Jamshoro, has approved 300 acres of land for establishment of Sindh University employees housing society phase-III.
The syndicate accorded this approval in its 184th meeting which concluded late Saturday evening under the chair of Vice Chancellor Dr Nazir A Mughal.
The syndicate also approved the names of the management committee of the housing society and the sizes of plots to be given under A, B and C categories to the employees of the university.
According to decisions 500 yards have been approved under category-A, 300 yards under category-B and 150 yards of plots have been approved under category-C.
The meeting also approved the proposal of enhancement of MPhil allowance from Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000 which was demanded by the Sindh University Teachers Association in its charter of demands.
The meeting also decided to promote those lecturers to the posts of assistant professors who secured PhD degrees.
It also approved the proposal of granting perks and privileges to the teachers of information technology and computer science in accordance with set standard of the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
The meeting also approved the proposals of appointing Dr Naghma Mangrio as the Chairperson of the Department of International Relations, Prof Sanaullah Bhutto as the Chairman Department of Comparative Religions and Islamic Culture, Associate Professor Dr Nisar Ahmed Subhepo to as the Chairman of the Department of Library and Information Science and Archives Studies and Prof Dr Ghulam Haider Talpur as the Chairman Department of Statistics.
The meeting also approved the minutes of the meeting of higher training scholarship committee held on June 28, 2012.
The syndicate also approved the proposal of Dr Nazir A Mughal of granting leave encashment on 62 days leave credit instead of 90 days to the officers of Grade-17 and above.
On demand of the Sindh University Teachers Association, the syndicate also withdrew the condition of experience after PhD for the appointment of professors and associate professors.
The meeting was attended among others by Registrar Muhammad Nawaz Narejo, Jhamat Jethanand Advocate, Dr Imdad Ali Ismaili, Dr Sarfraz Hussain Solangi, Dr Anwer Ali Shah G Syed, Justice Hamid Mirza, Dr Nilofar Shaikh, Dr Asad Larak, Dr Mumtaz Bhutto, MPA Farheen Mughal, Abdul Wahab Ansari, Badaruddin Soomro, Dr Ghulam Murtaza Mastoi and Imran Halepoto.
