A 220-page book in English entitled My Debut in Journalism comprising letters and articles written by founder of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was published on Sunday.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Deputy Secretary Dr Shaista Nuzhat, who is an author of ten books, led the research and compilation of the book.

Talking to the journalists, she said that Bhutto was a recognised all over the world as a statesman and a charismatic leader. She said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had a number of books and articles in his name over various subjects like multilateralism in the domain of international politics and public affairs.

She said Bhutto’s passion for journalism and a ceaseless urge to write in newspapers had developed at a very early age. After completing his education in 1953, Bhutto emerged as a prolific and compulsive writer and regularly contributed to local as well as foreign publications and news magazines such as Dawn, Pakistan Observer, Vision, Times and Newsweek.

She said My Debut in Journalism eulogised the young Bhutto’s unstinted faith in Pakistan as well as his love for father of the nation, Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

“Journalism in our times, more than in the past, is written in ink and blood,” he said in one of his early articles. She said this reflected the ability and capacity of a man who could see and foresee events from a point and perspective reserved for a true visionary.

The Directorate of Film and Publications published the book with a price of rupees 1350 while former federal information secretary Taimur Azmat Osman wrote its foreword.
