Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman on Sunday directed the officials to expedite the recovery of arrears from tax defaulters and not to be influenced by any pressure in this regard.
Addressing a cheque distribution ceremony among the excise and taxation officials who showed extraordinary performance during three months in tax collection campaign, Mujtaba directed the officials of the Excise Department to educate the citizens that timely tax payment could rid them of embarrassment and complication.
He noted that a major portion of property tax was lost due to corruption.
An effective strategy should be adopted for plugging the leakage of taxes and the recovery targets for the current years should be achieved at any cost, he added.
