Special Education employees protest against salary discrimination

The employees of the Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE) and allied Special Education Centers on Friday continued their protest against discrimination in salary packages amongst the federal government employees.
The protestors of the rally demanded that the recently announced 20 percent special allowance for employees of ministries and divisions should also be implemented at DGSE, which is a department of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD).
Talking to APP, the protesters said a regular staff was also working at CADD, but the time scale formula was only implemented on them which was sheer discrimination.
The protesters also raised objections that the government of
Punjab had allowed 100 percent special allowance to the employees of Special Education Department, but the staff of the federal directorate was still deprived of any such incentives.
“Most of the federal government employees had been provided approximately 100 percent allowances in different slabs, such as president and PM secretariat allowance, health allowance and judicial allowance, whereas our directorate and institutions had been deprived of these types of allowances since a long time” a protestor said.
They said the directorate’s staff was also providing rehabilitation and medical facilities to the disabled community and urged that health allowances should also be given to them like others.
The employees announced to continue their protest until the government brought equality in the salary packages at par with other government employees.
