Lahore police arrested 109 criminals belonging to 40 different gangs in the month of February and traced 105 different cases against the nabbed criminals.
Lahore police also recovered more than Rs 6.9 million cash from their possession.
In addition, 756 most wanted criminals and 781 suspects were also arrested in the same month, said a report.
Per details, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Operations Muhammad Ray Tahir strictly ordered the police force to maintain peace in the city, ensure security of citizens and to arrest criminals.
On the orders of the DIG, all divisional police stations of Lahore initiated a crackdown against the criminals and arrested 109 criminals belonging to 40 criminal gangs from different areas of the city while 105 cases were traced out against the nabbed accused the report mentioned.
From among the 756 most wanted nabbed criminals, 229 fell in A category and 528 in B category, while 781 suspected by the court included 25 from A category and 756 from B category.
365 criminals were also arrested for possessing illegal weapons and FIRs were also registered against them. The police also recovered three AK-47s, eight rifles, 22 short guns, two carbines, 319 revolvers and pistols, 1,864 bullets and other weapons from their possession.
Moreover 349 cases were launched against drugs dealers and 371 criminals were arrested, while the police recovered 18 kilogrammes of heroin, 88 kilogrammes of hashish, and 7,989 bottles of liquor from their possession.
Furthermore, 98 cases have been launched against gamblers, where 404 criminals were arrested and more than Rs 700,000 in cash have been recovered from the possession of the nabbed accused.
Moreover, 399 cases were launched against different criminals, where 292 criminals were arrested for being involved with land grabbing groups, one wheeling, kite flying, aerial firing, use of loud speakers, violations of price control and marriage act, private money laundering act and other crimes.
