PM inaugurates Sweet Home for homeless children

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Thursday inaugurated a Sweet Home-an orphanage under the Pakistan Baitul Maal (PBM) at H-9 Sector and said the government was dedicated to pursuing its vision on the well-being of the deprived section of society. He said Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was proud of its contribution to the welfare of masses.
Ashraf expressed confidence that PPP would again come into power on the basis of steps taken for the uplift of the country’s common man.
“Governments come and go, but the welfare work has an eternal life of its own,” the PM said.
He announced PBM Chairman Zamurrad Khan to be the lifetime patron-in-chief of Sweet Homes.
The PM appreciated the hard work of Zamurrad Khan that helped establish a nationwide network of Sweet Homes, which was providing safe shelters for homeless children.
He lauded the focus laid on the personality development of children at Sweet Homes and mentioned that he was inspired by their level of confidence and knowledge during their visit to the PM House.
Ashraf expressed satisfaction that the country was blessed with many great people whose hearts were filled with a passion for welfare work.
He paid tribute to Minister for Capital Administration and
Development Nazar Muhammad Gondal for donating a building for the new Sweet Home at H-9 Sector. He also appreciated donor agencies for supporting the noble cause.
Later, the prime minister took a round of the Sweet Home and also interacted with the children. The event was attended by Information Minister Qamar Zaman
Kaira, Minister for Religious Affairs Khurshid Shah, Minister for Capital Administration and Development Nazar Muhammad Gondal and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Begum Shahnaz Wazir Ali. The Sweet Homes are sheltering about 3,000 homeless children across the country and are being run with the funding of Pakistan Baitul Maal and donations by philanthropists.
