Two students of Karachi High School (KHS) – Sharjeel Sabeeh and Muhammad Ismail – have been declared ‘top in Karachi’ as the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) has announced names for the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards for Pakistan,
According to the official press release issued by Cambridge, over 260 students from across Pakistan will receive awards for exceptional performance in the IGCSE ordinary and advanced level examinations that were held in June 2012. Some 35 Pakistani students successfully managed to get the highest marks in the world, while 46 attained the highest marks in Pakistan in a single subject.
Top Karachi performers Sharjeel Sabeeh got highest marks in Chemistry, Biology and Physics while Muhammad Ismail earned highest marks in First Language English. Attributing the success to their parents and teachers, the students expressed mixed feelings of disbelief, happiness and gratitude.
The Karachi High School was founded by the late Parveen Kassim in 1985 to provide affordable educational solutions to the middle income class and currently has strength of over 600 students. Over the course of its presence which spans close to three decades, the Karachi High School has earned the reputation of a school providing quality education with an inherent focus on child and character development.
The Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of secondary school learners based on their performance in the subjects that are not so widely attempted in Pakistan.
