Mild-to-moderate quake shakes Sindh’s coastal areas

A mild-to-moderate earthquake struck the coastal areas of the Sindh province here on Thursday evening.
According to the Met Department, jolts of 4.7 magnitude on the Richter scale, were felt in Thatha, Golarchi, Badin, Jati, and surrounding areas.
The quake’s epicentre was about 172 kilometers away from Karachi.
No damage to property or life was reported after the jolts.
A meteorologist said that at present no warning had been issued as such tremors were not of much concern.
Meanwhile US Geological Survey said that an earthquake struck off the coastal area of Pakistan. Pakistan is located in a zone where the Eurasian, Arabian and Indo-Australian tectonic plates meet and rub together, sometimes causing earthquakes.
