Jamali for finding solutions to energy crisis

Federal Minister for Science and Technology (S&T) Mir Changez Khan Jamali on Thursday called upon students to find solutions to the energy crisis being faced by the country.
Addressing the launching ceremony of International Travelling Expo titled “Energy for a Sustainable World” at National Centre for Physics (NCP), Quaid-i-Azam University he said students’ attention towards resolution of such issues could only be achieved through science popularisation through Expos.

Dr Manzoor H Soomro and NCP Chairman Board of Governors Dr Ishfaq Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
PSF, in collaboration with Embassy of France arranged the two-month long Expo in Pakistan which will travel from Islamabad to Muzzafarabad (AJK), Gilgit, Abbottabad, Gujrat, Larkana and Quetta.
Jamali said Expos provide an opportunity to young scientists to develop new ideas and concepts of science. He lauded the PSF and France Embassy’s role in arranging the international travelling expos in Pakistan and assured his full support to continue such activities.Ambassador Thiebuad said during Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari’s meeting with French President in Paris, it was decided that Pakistan and France will enhance their cooperation in the field of higher education and energy sector. The Ambassador said the countries of the entire world are facing the challenge of energy crisis. He said in order to overcome this issue there was a need to develop new technologies.
He said this exhibition will create interest among students to develop new ideas of energy efficiency and its sustainable use for national development.
Secretary Tarar congratulated PSF for creating awareness among students and general masses about scientific concepts.
He said the Expo on energy in Pakistan was a testimony to their visit to France last year. Tarar said the exhibition created alot of interest among young scientists to develop new ideas about sustainable use of energy.
He assured the ministry’s continued support to PSF in different programmes meant for promotion of science and technology.
PSF Chairman Dr Manzoor H Soomro said had also taken up the task to send Pakistani students to London International Youth Science Forum so that they could exchange their ideas with other students of the world for betterment of mankind. Dr Soomro said the PSF in collaboration with Embassy of France is carrying on two programmes including holding international travelling expos and promotion of inquiry-based science education in the country.
