Security forces on Thursday killed as many as 12 militants in a fresh offensive in Orakzai Agency, officials said.
The officials said further security forces carried out the operation in the Gundamela area and took control of the stronghold of the militants.
On the other hand, forces conducted search operation in the Nadarmela area after a landmine killed a soldier and injured three others, including an officer.
“Seven militants were killed and several others injured in the operation after the blast,” sources said.
Orakzai Agency is the only northwestern tribal agency of Pakistan which does not border Afghanistan.
Earlier on Wednesday, security forces killed at least eight militants during an operation in the Mamoonzai area of the agency.
