Hearing the OGRA corruption case on Thursday, the Supreme Court directed the Foreign Affairs secretary to take immediate measures for former OGRA chairman Tauqeer Sadiq’s return to Pakistan.

The apex court asked the foreign secretary to remove all documentary loopholes related to Sadiq’s return to the country.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Jawad S Khwaja resumed hearing in the OGRA corruption case on Thursday, wherein NAB prosecutor general KK Agha told the apex court that all arrangements for facilitating Sadiq’s return were final, but the UAE police said at the last moment that Sadiq’s documents were incomplete.

Upon this, Justice Jawad S Khwaja inquired why NAB took no action against the institutions that created hurdles in the way of Sadiq’s return.

Agha replied that action would be taken against those responsible in this regard.

Justice Khwaja further noted that no reference had been filed against those facilitating the escape of Tauqeer Sadiq.

Subsequently, Judicial Assistant Khwaja Haris observed that a case could be filed against those under Article 212 and 216 of Pakistan Penal Code.

Justice Jawad S Khwaja said national institutions should take action against a deputy post master accused of embezzlement.

The court ordered the Foreign Affairs secretary to present a report on the next hearing on Sadiq’s repatriation to Pakistan.

The court adjourned hearing until March 11.
