Most of the protesters were security guards and gardeners of BPS-1 and BPS-2. CDA has around 750 daily wagers who are still waiting for the regularisation of their services and for their salaries which had been increased in July 2011.
Rizwan Ahmed, a protester who worked as a daily waged employee in CDA since the last ten years told Pakistan Today, “We are working without any salary since the last three months, but our protest is not for payment of salaries, our sit-in is for the regularization of our services which is our right”.
