The unending violence in the metropolitan claimed at least four more lives including that of a girl.
According to police, a 40-year-old man named Qadir Hussain, was gunned down near Eye Hospital in Korangi. In another firing incident, 38-year-old Rashid was killed in Landhi sector 36-B. Furthermore, 25-year-old Abdul Wahid Jan was shot dead in Memon Goth, Malir. Meanwhile, a bullet-riddled body of an 18-year-old girl, identified as Aneesa, was found from a ground near Al-Asif Square, Sohrab Goth.
Violence tightened its grip around Karachi, and spread its hands into Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, Nawabshah and Sukkur where unidentified armed men started firing, thus forcing the traders to shut their businesses and pushing transport off the roads on Wednesday afternoon.
In Karachi, the firing incidents were reported from Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulstan-e-Johar, Gulzar-e-Hijri, Abul Hassan Esphahani Road, Malir, Landhi, Korangi, Lines Area, Rizvia Society, University road, Saddar and several other localities. All the major markets including Sarafa market and Electronic market were closed down. The petrol pumps were also shut soon after firing was reported on news channels.
Public transport operators also announced to take off all vehicles off the roads while trucks and oil tankers associations announced that they have stopped their vehicles outside the city in order to ensure their security. The trucks and oil tankers would not enter into the city until the violence subsided, they said.
Meanwhile a bus was set on fire by unidentified miscreants in Landhi-4 area.
In addition, the violence and panic created massive traffic jams at MA Jinnah Road, II Chundrigar Road, Shahrah-e-Faisal and other city roads as people rushed towards their homes.
Reports of violence were also received from some other cities of Sindh. Armed men forced the local traders to close down business in Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, Nawabshah and Sukkur.
Can somebody enlighten me who are these armed gunmen. People in Islamabad say these are MQM armed force.
