Punjab College of Commerce grabbed the overall trophy of the Inter-collegiate Boxing Championship held at the champions backyard, Islamia College Civil Lines. Punjab College, now coached by Mohammad Yousuf Mahmood Butt, toppled Civil Lines college, with 56 points that they earned by winning seven gold medals. Civil Lines College failed to retain the trophy that it had been winning for the last 40 years. At number three spot came Science College Wahdat Road. Punjab College stunned the onlookers in the championship, which was the most poorly organized. In the event the weigh-in was not properly done by the organizes, no medical of the boxers was done and even doctors were also not present on the occasion.
