Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday called for appointment of a non-political individual as caretaker prime minister (PM) of the country.
He said criminals were ruling the roost and terrorists were killing people in broad daylight and no individual was safe, stretching from Karachi to Waziristan. Addressing public gatherings in Haripur, Hawailian and Abbottabad during PTI’s mass contact drive, Khan said President Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif were known for playing the notorious game of ‘noora-kushti’ which had damaged the country.
“Despite rampant killing, abductions and extortions, not a single perpetrator has been executed for these heinous crimes, and the government’s writ seems non-existent in the country,” he said. PTI would unite the people of Pakistan and a revolution would hold sway in the country, Khan added.
Khan said people were fully aware of their political tactics which would be reflected in the forthcoming general elections. He said people must join PTI if they want real change in the country. He said PTI had become the first democratic party of the country, having held intra-party polls.
Expressing wonder, Khan said the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had been an ally of Zardari for the past five years and now had sided with Nawaz in his attempt to win in next polls. “Rulers are becoming billionaires, while the nation is getting poorer each passing day,” the PTI chief said.
He said Zardari’s and Sharif’s assets were in foreign accounts, adding it was not in their interest to solve problems of the masses. He said PTI would hold a historic public gathering on March 23 at Minar-e-Pakistan. He further said the PTI would unite the nation to rid the country from sectarianism, adding that the PTI tsunami would hit Peshawar on March 10.
“The rulers have made a big mistake by plunging the country, people and the army into the US war against terrorism which has claimed the lives of 5 million people,” Khan said.
PTI after coming into power would disengage from the US-led war and would break away from US slavery once and for all, the PTI chief vowed. Khan said if PTI was voted into power, it would create a new Pakistan, free from external influence and interference, where the youth would be provided ample employment opportunities.
Expressing disappointment over functioning of government organisations, Khan said the profit earning institution- Pakistan Steel Mill-at present faced a deficit of Rs 50 billion. He said these rulers had brought the country on the verge of bankruptcy and collapse.
The PTI chief said owing to sky-rocketing inflation and rampant corruption, the poor were struggling to make ends meet, and promised that the PTI would put an end to corruption and bring foreign investment in Pakistan. PTI activists, through intra-party polls, can expel corrupt leaders from the party, he said, adding that election was held for every position in the party.
Terming the PML-N as a “family-limited” party, Khan said in the past, the two brothers had ruled the country and now their children were in line to capture the throne.
He said both “family-limited” political parties had brought a plethora of problems for Pakistan and were unable to solve problems of the masses
PTI would start its election campaign from March 23, following the public oath-taking gathering in Lahore, he said, adding that people would not vote into power those who were busy in underhand deals.
If the youth backed him in the next general polls, Khan vowed he would bring about real change in the country.
