Abbas Town blast victims to get compensation: Commissioner

Karachi Commissioner Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that the compensation amount announced by the government for the affectees of Abbas Town blasts would be provided to them in two to three days.
He said this while talking to media representatives in a relief camp set up in Abbas Town on Tuesday evening.
The commissioner said that technical survey of affected buildings had been completed and 85 percent debris had already been lifted.
Lifting of debris from the affected area along with other relief activities undertaken at affected places in Abbas Town would be completed by Wednesday evening, he added.
Commissioner Hashim himself was present in the relief camp for several hours and monitored the restoration and relief activities. Injured people and relatives of blast victims also met with him and shared their problems.
Furthermore, he said that all necessary facilities have been provided to surviving blast victims, adding that special attention was being provided to the medical treatment of the injured.
He said that temporary residences were arranged along with food and water for victims of Abbas Town tragedy on the directives of Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan.
Moreover, the commissioner said that eight families were shifted immediately to a school located in New Rizvia Society on temporary basis, while adding that the arrangements for shifting remaining families along with their goods have also been finalised.
