400 shops gutted in Sabzi Mandi fire

About 400 shops, stalls, warehouses and restaurants were burnt down when a fire broke out in New Sabzi Mandi at superhighway in the limits of Sohrab Goth Police Station on Wednesday.
According to a fire brigade source, the fire broke out in a warehouse and suddenly spread to other buildings. In no time the fire had engulfed more than 400 shops, stalls, stores, eateries and tea shops.
Fire fighters defeated the inferno after hectic efforts stretching over five hours and the cooling process had started.
Initial reports suggested losses of millions of rupees, however no casualty was reported in the incident.
