Sindh Archives and Special Education Minister Rafique Engineer died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday.
The PPP stalwart was an inhabitant of Lyari. He suffered from a heart attack at his residence and breathed his last shortly after.
The deceased began his political career with the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy (MRD) during the Ziaul era and joined the ranks of the People Students Federation in his college years. He went on to become the general secretary of the People Youth Wing’s Karachi division. and later served as the general secretary of the party’s Karachi wing.
He was elected as an MPA in the 2008 elections from Lyari and was sworn in as the provincial Minister of Archives with the additional charge of special education.
