Renowned actress of Pashto films Musarrat Shaheen on Tuesday announced to contest election against Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Talking to journalists, she said that she had contested elections against Maulana Fazlur Rehman in general elections of 1997 from Dera Ismail Khan which is home of both contenders. She hoped to win the election against JUI-F chief.
Musarrat Shaheen said that she is putting her life in danger and going to contest elections in a constituency where women were not allowed to participate in political process. She appealed to the Election Commission to grant her scissors as an election symbol so that she could “cut the corruption from its roots”.
