Govt releases Rs 826.958m for KMC staff’s salaries

KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi said that payment for KMC employees’ salaries and pensions for January would start today (Wednesday) whereas the efforts for the month of February will be made this week.
The administrator paid an unexpected visit to various offices at civic centre and found many of the officers and staff members absent from their offices. He expressed much indignation and called a meeting of heads of the various departments at 11am. The officers came late were not allowed to attend the meeting.
The Sindh government has released Rs 326.958 million for Octroi Matching Grant and Rs 500 million under the head of salaries which was deposited to the State Bank and the payment of salaries of all employees including KDA Wing will start just after depositing amount to the KMC account on Tuesday.
Mr Zaidi said the payment of employees’ salaries and pensions was his first priority so that employees could perform their responsibilities with dedication and willingness.
He thanked Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Finance Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch on releasing funds for paying salaries. He also admired the efforts of Finance Advisor Khalid Shaikh.
Meanwhile, Mr Zaidi took strict notice of officers coming late to offices and warned of dismissing those who come after 9:30 am.
In the introductory meeting, all the officers were directed to reach their offices on time, he said, adding those who found guilty would be penalized and dismissed from service.
He said the departments’ heads should set precedent for other staff members by reaching the office on time. He directed all heads to improve office environment, pay attention on cleanliness and do their best to resolve issues of the citizens.
He said the KMC was an organisation of serving citizens and officers should try their best to ensure the availability of municipal facilities to the citizens.
