Rangers arrest 200 in quick operation

Following a massive blast in Karachi’s Shia-dominated neighborhood of Abbas Town on Sunday, Rangers on Monday conducted a search operation in different parts of the city and claimed to have arrested more than 200 criminals of a banned outfit.
Sources said the paramilitary troops cordoned off Gulshan-e-Memar, Baldia Town, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Sikandar Goth areas on a tip-off that some suspects were hiding there.
Rangers’ commandos carried out a house-to-house search operation and recovered illegal arms, including machine guns and pistols, while rounding up more than a dozen suspected criminals.
Meanwhile, postmortem was conducted on 44 bodies of the victims of the Abbas Town blast, Karachi Police Surgeon Dr Jalil Qadir Memon said, while adding that till Monday morning post mortem had been conducted on 32 bodies. He said that 10 bodies which were brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital have been handed over to their heirs.
According to Edhi spokesman, 26 dead bodies were lying in their cold storage in Sohrab Goth out of which six have been handed over to their heirs. He said 20 bodies still remained behind, out of which nine were unidentified while seen were not claimed by anyone.
