Punjab Youth Festival’s final phase begins

The teams of Press Clubs, Bar Associations, Departments and Corporate sector began the activity of cricket, table tennis and badminton on the opening day of the Punjab Youth Festival final phase.

As many as 32 teams of cricket got involved in four different venues with each venue having four matches.

On the opening day the four matches of Press clubs at Ittefaq Ground saw Faisalabad got walk over against Gera Ghazi Khan. Sahiwal which was put into bat made 69 and won the match by five runs when Sargodha was bowled out for 64.

At the Bar Association cricket matches will be played at New Ittefaq Ground, Lahore was awarded walk over after the failure of Saihwal Bar in making the venue. Meanwhile, there was no match between Faisalabad and Dera Ghazi Khan when both the teams did not appear in the ground.

In the Departments cricket at Mehran Club Ground Mehran Block, IqbalTown, Multan Region team failed to appear and thus Rawalpindi got walkover and with that it qualified for the quarter-finals. Sports Board Punjab too got walk over against Faisalabad and made the last eight.

In the Corporate sector matches at ShahFaisalGroundFaisalTown, Irfan Sports beat City Club Lahore by 46 runs. Put into bat Irfan Sports 102. Ikram 34 was the main scorer. In reply City was bowled out for 56.

In badminton at Gymnasium of Iqbal Park Sports Complex, draws were held and some interesting matches were seen played. The most-tight match was played between Motorway Police and AG Office which was won by the former team 2-1 to qualify for the next round.

In table tennis draws were held at the Shah Jahan (Table Tennis Hall near Mian Plaza Johar Town, and regular matches will now be held on Tuesday.
