Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif announced on Monday that his party would field strong candidates with good repute in the upcoming general elections.

Addressing a party meeting to discuss allocation of party tickets and establishing a scrutiny committee in this regard, Nawaz said that his party would favour only those candidates who are strong in their constituencies and who are sure to win the election.

Sources said that Nawaz approved a five-day extension in the last date of submitting applications for party tickets.

Later, various PML-Q leaders met Nawaz and announced to join the PML-N. Nawaz said that the recent additions would play an important role in the electoral success of the PML-N.

These included the chairman of Suba Hazara Tehreek, Sardar Yusuf, and members of Punjab Assembly Ayesha Javed, Humaira Owais, Sakhi Tanoli and Wajihuzzamman.
