New PPP registration sought with ECP

Disgruntled Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Naheed Khan on Monday filed an application in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), seeking registration of her separate party with the name of Pakistan People’s Party.

According to details, Naheed said in the petition that her PPP was the real party of Zulfikar Bhutto’s workers.

Accompanied by a large number of political workers, Naheed Khan made her way to the ECP office in Islamabad and applied for a separate party.

Later, she told journalists that there was no registered party in the commission with the name of PPP.  The other party registered in the ECP bears name of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP), whose president was Makhdoom Amin Fahim.

Naheed Khan drew attention towards President Zardari’s statement, in which he said that PPP was an NGO, not a political party.

She said that it was her right to seek registration of the PPP to keep the philosophy of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto alive.

She also submitted details of her intra-party elections, according to which Naheed Khan was the president and Fayyaz Khan was the general secretary.
