Load shedding revisits twin cities

The rumours that there would be a record load shedding in the year of the general elections seem to be true as the twin cities experience power outages up to 10 hours before the start of summer season.

Before the start of the summer season and in the final days of the democratic government, twin cities had been facing up to 10 hours’ scheduled load shedding, low gas pressure and an increase in the prices of petroleum products.

Like other parts of the country, power outages had badly disturbed the routine life of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Government employees complained that power cuts cause hindrance in official work.

Moreover, students giving their matriculation exams, which were taking place in various institutions, were also suffering because they were unable to focus on their studies.

Residents had been facing long hours of load shedding for the last one week after the concerned authorities enhanced its duration without any prior notice.

However, no immediate corrective measures were being taken to redress this issue. The rural areas were also facing both, scheduled and unscheduled load shedding.
