Complete strike is being observed in Karachi today on the call of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and Shia Council to condemn the bomb blast at Abbas Town that killed at least people and injured around 150 yesterday.
Sindh government, MQM, ANP, PML-F, Sunni Tehreek had also declared Monday as Mourning Day to express solidarity with the families of the victim families. Shia organizations including Shia Ulema Council and Jaffria Alliance have announced three-day mourning in Sindh.
All private and government educational institutions and business establishments are closed and public transport is off the road. All petrol pumps are also closed. Pakistan Bar Council is also observing strike and the lawyers boycotted the courts proceedings.
Sindh Assembly session scheduled for Monday has also been adjourned till Wednesday March 6.
The national flag hoists at half-mast at the Sindh Assembly and other government buildings and routine life remains paralyzed here as the people mourn deadly bombing.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has constituted a six-member committee, headed by CID Additional IG, to probe Abbas Town explosion incident.
The committee was formed in a meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, to review law and order situation.
Meanwhile, Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad announced that Sindh government would rebuild the flats and shops destroyed in Abbas town bomb explosion.
