Karachi police have arrested 3,862 criminals, including 2,465 absconders and 300 proclaimed offenders, during two months of targetted raids and operations in different parts of the metropolis, a police report said on Monday.
The report was sent to Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari that comprised of a detailed report regarding the performance of Karachi Zonal, SIU, AVCC and ACLC police from 1st January to 28th February.
According to the report, 236 police encounters took place during raids and target operations in different areas of the city in which 153 dacoit gangs were eliminated.
It was also mentioned in the report that the arrests were made on the basis of intelligence collection, sharing, surveillance, snap checking, picketing, patrolling and coordinated raids.
The police also recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition in the operations.
It was informed that during this time, 24 SMGs, seven shot guns, 15 rifles, 21 repeaters, 23 revolvers, 999 pistols, 11 mousers, 25 daggers, 19 hand grenades and 205 mobile phones were recovered from the possession of the nabbed accused.
