Johnny Depp to star in two new movies

The 49-year-old actor is looking beyond this summer’s action release, ‘The Lone Ranger’, and has signed on for two new projects: ‘Transcendence’ and ‘Black Mass’. You’ve probably heard that Depp was attached to the films, but the news wasn’t made official until Wednesday. The first up for Depp is ‘Transcendence’, which is expected to begin filming in April, according to the Hollywood Reporter. New name Jack Paglen penned the script, which is rumored to be about a scientist whose brain is uploaded into a supercomputer he created, although official plot details are being kept quiet. Following that, Depp stars in ‘Black Mass’ as Whitey Bulger. Directed by Barry Levinson, the biopic is inspired by the book, ‘Black Mass-The True Story of the Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob.’ Depp’s ‘Lone Ranger’, which co-stars Armie Hammer, will open July 3.
