A petition was filed against Hajj Policy 2013 in the Lahore High Court stating that policy violates Article 25 of the constitution.
The petitioner stated that the Ministry for Religious Affairs had increased the haj expenditures by 40 percent due to which a large number of intending pilgrims will not be able to perform haj, thus, a stay order should be issued against the policy.
Increase in Haj expenditure and then announcement of date for applications immediately is questionable. There should be a permanent policy for applications date and accordingly one should know applications dates well before time. Likewise, total Haj expenses should also be announced in reasonable time and then a reasonable time be given to intending pilgrims for submission of applications.
