Another journalist gunned down in 2 days

A senior journalist and Mir Ahmad Yar Khan Press Club President Mahmood Khan Afridi was killed on Friday by unidentified gunmen in Kalat, some 160 kilometers southeast of Quetta. Balochistan Union of Journalists and Quetta Press Club condemned the murder and announced a three-day mourning in its wake. According to details, Mahmood Khan Afridi was on his way home when two armed men riding a motorcycle sprayed a volley of bullets at him with sophisticated weapons. As a result of the attack, he sustained multiple bullets wounds and succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. Mahmood Afridi was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Kalat where doctors pronounced his death. Police said investigation into the murder was underway to unearth motive behind the murder. Afridi was a senior journalist from the Kalat district working for Daily Intaikhab and a TV Channel News One and was the president of Mir Ahmed Yar Khan Press Club Kalat. He left behind two sons Mohammad Ibrahim, 19 and Mohammad Idrees, 17 and a widow.
