The PML-N and MQM on Friday boycotted proceedings of the National Assembly to protest against hikes in POL prices.
The MQM members said that the parliamentary committee on the matter was not consulted before the upward revision of POL prices.
PML-N members termed the price hike a ‘petrol bomb’ that has been dropped on the consumers.
The revised prices came into effect at midnight today (Friday) following the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority’s notification regarding the upward revision.
As per the notification, petrol is now retailing at 106.60/litre with an increase of Rs. 3.53 while Diesel after a Rs. 4.35/litre increase is retailing at Rs. 113.56.
