Pagara for ousting Sindh election commissioner

Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) chief Pir Pagara demanded replacement of the Sindh election commissioner and expressed fear of massive bloodshed during the upcoming elections.
Addressing a press conference at the residence of his party’s provincial president Ghulam Mustafa Khar on Friday, Pagara said free and fair elections were not possible in the presence of political governors. He said politically affiliated governors would definitely support their parties, and called for appointment of non political governors before elections.
He alleged that the Sindh election commissioner refuses to follow orders from the chief election commissioner, calling for his replacement.
The PML-F chief once again appealed for the unification of all factions of Muslim League and said if this had happened before 2008, the present prime minister would have been from the League. He said Chaudhry brothers of PML-Q had been supporting unification efforts when they were in government, adding that the PML-N, led by Nawaz Sharif, also wanted the merger. He said in case of unification, the League would be a big force to be reckoned with.
Pagara said his party would contest elections from all parts of the country. He said he had predicted some time ago that the MQM would move to opposition benches before elections and his prediction had materialised.
The PML-F chief said change was difficult to come by because a majority of those already in assemblies would return following elections and only 20 to 30 new faces would be seen in the new parliament.
He further claimed that criminals were serving in police in Karachi and the rest of Sindh which was why no action was taken against target killers.
On the occasion, Khar said the Muslim League under the leadership of Pir Pagara had come as an alternative to the PPP, and hoped for positive results. During the conference, Chaudhry Zaheer and others announced to join the party.
