Leadership awaits those who believe in service: Punjab governor

Punjab-Governor-Makhdoom-Ahmed-MahmudPunjab Governor Ahmad Mahmud has said that leadership awaits those who believe in service and hope awaits those who believe and the country needs visionary leadership which can serve the people with diligence.

He was addressing the attendants of the function of the 127th Founder’s Day of the Aitchison College.

Appreciating the students who achieved top position in the world in the subject of English and Mathematic, he said that he was overwhelmed to see such intelligent and immensely talented students. “The country needs such youth,” he said, adding that the students needed to work hard and play their role in the progress and prosperity of the country.

The governor further said that the world of today was the world of technology in general and information technology in particular and the benchmark for all human output was excellence. He also stated that the world was becoming increasingly complex, sophisticated and competitive with every passing day and if Pakistan wished to be a member of the global village, the countrymen would have to participate and compete at the highest level. The governor also stressed upon the fact that parent should also play an important role in the process for the moral and behavioral development of the child, the process depends on good parenting because right and wrong attitude develop largely at home.

The governor also said that leadership meant service to the people and the country needed good, responsible people. The governor also emphasised that the teacher should perform their duty and responsibility with honesty and dedication, adding that a teacher should be a source of inspiration for his/her students.

Earlier, Principal Shameem Saif ullah Khan in his welcome address said that students should use their all energy in getting education. Education was the only solution which can solve all the problems and bring splendid and bright future for them, he said, adding that the rewards the students had achieved were not milestones but were indicator of continuing journey and perseverance. He also advised the students that they should never stop and never stop growing.

The governor then distributed the gold medals, shields and prizes among the high achievers.
