Islamabad police set to launch crackdown against auto-thieves

Islamabad Police was directed on Friday to launch an effective crackdown against car thieves as well the buyers of these cars by constituting special teams to ensure their arrest and to take prompt action to stop auto-theft incidents at market places, shopping areas and exit points of the city.

These directions were given by Islamabad SSP Yaseen Farooq while chairing a meeting at his office to review the performance of various police zones and possible steps to evade criminal activities the federal capital.

Industrial Area SP Muhammad Ishaq Warraich, Secretariat ASP Muhammad Hassan, Industrial Area ASP Yasir Afridi, SP Gulfam Nasir, City DSP and station house officers of various police stations were also present on the occasion.

The SSP directed all police officials to adopt a professional attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people.

He also reviewed the progress of all police officials and ordered them to devise an effective strategy to control crime.

Yaseen Faroooq directed police officials to constitute special police teams for patrolling to stop car theft incidents and asked them to send policemen to other districts for the recovery of vehicles stolen and driven away from Islamabad.

He directed them to accelerate the investigation process of various crime cases including murder, robberies, kidnapping for ransom, car lifting and resolution of pending cases.

Yaseen Farooq directed SPs and other high officials to personally pursue the progress on the complaints and ensure steps for the immediate solution to the problems of the people by remaining in touch with them.

The SSP also ordered to ensure arrest of proclaimed offenders and other criminals involved in crimes of heinous nature and were still at large.

He directed them to focus on resolving public complaints and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens.

He said the police officials responsible in delaying the registration of cases and doing sluggish investigation would not be spared and strict disciplinary action would be taken against them.

He directed all police officials to improve their performance and address the grievances of the masses on an immediate basis to win the confidence and support of the people.

He stressed for a speedy disposal of cases and their investigation purely on merit. “Policing is a service oriented job and every police official must serve humanity with devotion,” he added.

The SSP said FIRs must be registered at police stations on merit and without any delay and inconvenience to the citizens. He asked all the investigation officers of police stations to ensure completion of probe of various cases.

Yaseen Farooq directed police officials to brief their staff at the police pickets and keep them alert to avoid any untoward incident.

He ordered them to ensure effective patrolling to curb vehicles’ theft.

The SSP said that Islamabad Police was determined to ensure protection of the lives and property of the citizens and no stone would be left unturned to accomplish this responsibility.
