CDA to develop the literary taste of residents

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) would enrich the literary taste of the residents of Islamabad by holding literary gatherings that would ‘cast a soothing impact on their lives’, CDA Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz said on Friday.

Addressing a Ghazal night held in the memory of the renowned poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz at the Sports and Culture Directorate of the CDA, he said Faiz’s poetry was not only revolutionary but was also a message of courage for future generations.

He said the CDA would start holding literary gatherings as a permanent feature of the authority’s activities so that the literary taste of residents could be enriched besides provision of recreational facilities.

He said the Sports and Culture Directorate of the CDA would also be upgraded and made fully functional to promote the cultural and literary activities among the youth and to keep them engaged in a productive work. He said this would help acquaint students with their sages and the glorious past of the country.

Renowned singer Rahat Multanikar sung Faiz’s poetry which enthralled the audience, which comprised senior officers and residents of the city.

Earlier, Administration Member Munir Ahmed Chaudhry deliberated upon the long-lasting impact Faiz’s poetry had cast on our society and called for implementing his thoughts in our practical lives.
