The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday reserved its verdict in a review appeal filed by the convicts in former president General Pervez Musharraf’s murder attacks.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry reserved the verdict in the case after conclusion of the hearing. On Wednesday, Mujeebur Rehman, the counsel of the Defence Ministry, told the court that under Section 133 (B) of Pakistan Army Act, court of appeal had the authority to reduce or enhance the sentence of a convict.

The bench directed the Judge Advocate General branch of Pakistan Armed Forces to produce complete record of the convicts.

Earlier the military court, on July 21, 2005, had awarded sentences to Rana Muhammad Naveed and Aamir Sohail. Rana Naveed was awarded life imprisonment, whereas Aamir Sohial was awarded 20-year incarceration.

However, on December 8, 2005, the court of appeal had converted the sentences into death penalties.
