Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Nisar Ali Khan has said he will soon forward names for a caretaker prime minister to Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
Talking to reporters on Thursday, Nisar said he had received a letter by Ashraf asking him to propose names for a caretaker prime minister, adding that he had completed consultations with his party leadership and would propose the names to the prime minister within a couple of days.
On Wednesday, Prime Minster Ashraf had sent the letter to the leader of the opposition, in which he also wrote that it was imperative that “we initiate the process under Article 224 of the constitution to arrive at a consensus on the appointment of a caretaker prime minister‚ who could uphold the national interest and ensure free‚ fair and transparent elections”.
