Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Thursday directed the interior secretary to identify Lashkat-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) hideouts and to act promptly and swiftly against the terrorists from the banned organisation.
Chairing a high-level meeting wherein current security threats were discussed in detail, Malik ordered the authorities concerned to take necessary measures to enhance security especially in the diplomatic enclave and entry points.
Matters related to banned organisations were thoroughly scrutinised and the provincial governments were directed to ensure that the members of these organisations were not seen running amok under different names.
He also directed the interior secretary to get reports from respective provinces with proposals to proscribe all those organisations that were still indulging in terrorist activities.
The matter relating to LeJ was also discussed at length and the interior secretary was directed to issue a reminder to those concerned asking for their recommendations for putting Ishaq Malik’s name on the ECL. The interior secretary was also asked to get the details of every case against him.
Malik also directed the interior secretary to ensure that the orders of the chief election commissioner regarding the stopping of the issuance of arms licences were followed in their full letter and spirit.
