Governor Ebad lands in Karachi, resumes office

Governor Sindh Ishratul Ebad on Thursday morning landed in Karachi after Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain directed him to withdraw his resignation.

Talking to journalists at Karachi airport, Ishrat said that he had decided to quit as governor Sindh because he had failed to mend relations between MQM and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Ebad said that “I told President about my decision to quit and left for Dubai, where Zardari sent Interior Minister Rehman Malik after me, who convinced me that my presence in the city was necessary for the maintain peace“.

He added that Altaf Hussain contacted him via telephone on Wednesday evening and discussed the prevalent security and political situation of Sindh and advised him to resume his duty.

The governor concluded that “I want blessings of Altaf Hussain and President Zardari to fully perform my duties as required”.
