Weapons of various bores and Rs 41.2 million seized by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), on Wednesday, in a raid on the house of the arrested Central Police Office Budget Officer Javed Khan.
The accused alleged that some serving and retired police officers were likely to be involved in weapon purchase.
The NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa media Cell spokesman Col Waheedullah said that the NAB’s SP Inayat Khan with a team of the local police and other officers raided the house of Javed Khan and have recovered 41.2 2 million and added that Kalashnikov and some pistols have also been seized during the raid. He said that Javed Khan and the contractor Arshad Majeed have mentioned names of serving and retired police officers that may be involved in the purchase of weapons worth Rs 7 billion. A huge loss has been incurred by the national exchequer, said Col Waheedullah.
“I cannot mention the names of the officers but it is likely that we will make arrests soon. There are names of some high ranking officers as well, but we have to make it certain that these officers are involved before taking them to task,” He added.
