Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) on Wednesday imposed a ban on display of used tyres in open places to avoid the accumulation of water and the spread of dengue virus.
On the directives of the Rawal Town Administrator Saif Anwar Jappa, shopkeepers were served notices warning them not to display used tyres on the roofs and open places as dengue larvae flourished in water accumulated in these tyres.
RTMA spokesman said action would be taken against shopkeepers for not complying with the ban besides confiscating used tyres and registration of cases against them.
He said that Jappa had taken serious notice of the encroachments at Sadiqabad and Muslim Town, where the pushcart owners established their stalls on the main roads, creating hurdles and hampering the smooth flow of traffic.
