National Assembly (NA) was told on Wednesday that announcement would be made soon for opening new sectors by Capital Development Authority (CDA).

Replying to a question by MNA Shireen Arshid, Minister for Religious Affairs Khurshid Shah said that a project by the name of Fired Power Islamabad was announced by CDA and was even advertised in the newspapers. However, he said, CDA could arrange a hefty amount of Rs 40 billion in connection with the project. Moreover, he said, such advertisements paved way for corruption. He asked how such an advertisement was placed in the newspapers when CDA did not have any funds. Moreover, he said that strict notice would be taken of the matter.

Responding to another question, he said that no ban had been imposed by the federal government on the export of livestock. However, he said a Khyber Pashtunkhawa (KP) court and customs authorities had banned exporting livestock, poultry birds and eggs to Afghanistan from external points of the country, he added.

Replying to a question from MNA Imrana Saeed, Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira told the house that no age relaxation was allowed in connection with the CSS examinations.

The house was told in writing by ministry of inter-provincial coordination that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had sent 79 persons including former chairmen, board office bearers and journalists on foreign tours from 2008 up till now. The board had to incur expenses to the tune of over Rs 50 million in this regard.

The legislators voiced strong protest over absence of ministers on the ministries to which questions pertained.
